Our 14-year-old kid was born in HK, but has inherited the Canadian citizenship from his mother who became a citizen when her family emigrated to Toronto many years ago. Our kid has visited Canada as a young child, but not lived there for more than 12 months.
We are planning to send him to study in a university (tentatively in Ontario) as a local student in three years time when he finishes his secondary education in HK. However, I have recently learned about the Ontario Residency Requirements and apparently our kid will not meet such requirements.
Grateful if I could get advice from those living in Ontario who have the knowledge/experience in this aspect and can shed some light for me. Many thanks in advance!
